I've always had an interest in creating music. I was bought my first 'knockabout’ drum kit when I was about 10 and have continued to make a racket since!

I started out as a drummer in an indie band called Freakapotamus. I was getting more into house/techno so I bought a Roland drum pad to add more electronic sounds to the live set. After some manual reading I managed to connect this drum pad to my brother's keyboard using MIDI and the next thing I'm banging out basslines with my drumsticks. How cool was that?

That was the starting point of everything 'techno' for me, one 'box' led to another and I now have a modest studio. It took some time to get to the point where I'm at now, especially with song writing. I didn't know how to put a chord together when I got my first keyboard but some of the music I grew up listening to only used 3 chords anyway! I didn't see this as a problem!?! An advantage in some ways, I didn't know the musical 'rules' you were supposed to keep to and found my own way to the end of a track! Dance music will always be about beats and bass, if you've got them sorted you won't go too far wrong...

I tend to spend my spare time creating tracks and learning new tricks in the studio, whether it be my own, with other musicians or remix work. Although I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the fastest songwriter in the world! I find mixing a track the most rewarding, hearing a track finally come together after hours of writing and arranging gives me the biggest buzz.

I've been influenced by many artists, too many to list here... I'm always listening to older stuff as well, your tastes do change as you grow up. Music you might have dismissed in the past can sound OK on another listen. When you're sample hunting, you tend to end up with all sorts of tracks you wouldn't normally buy and this always throws up some surprise finds.

My next plans are to start work on some new tracks with the aim of completing another album (eventually!). I’ve got a few ideas in mind and the tracks will be a bit different to what’s on Transition, more of a 'dubby' vibe and the Akai sampler will be brought out of retirement!
